Description
Colin was commissioned by Stonehaven Folk Festival Committee, in their 21st year, to capture the energy created as traditional music meets modernity. Committee members particularly wanted to highlight the involvement of young people in taking folk music forward. Colin has done this superbly by involving young musicians and a wider network of people in capturing an image harnessing pictures, objects and the written word in a vibrant and engaging way.
Funding to support this artwork was awarded by Stonehaven Community Development Group, who supported lifelong learning developments in the community. The artist worked with young people, adult volunteers and Folk Festival committee members, using materials donated, to create this unique piece which carries the influence of all those involved. The original can be viewed at Stonehaven Library and high quality prints are available through the Festival Sales Stall and online.

Thanks go to Colin Brown, Arts Development Officer Marie Archer, the Folk Festival Committee, the Stonehaven Community Development Group and of course the young people involved in the arena of folk music – without them traditional and contemporary folk music would have a less certain future….
